SPECULATIONS: Guess to Impress
SHORT: You have to explain a topic you don’t really know about. You get 5 minutes to draft notes. Hit record. Try and explain so others may understand. Get critiqued by an expert—stand corrected. Leave smarter.
LONG: Me and a guest are given a prompt—challenged to explain a thing we don’t know much about. We have 5 minutes to prepare sensible and correct statements—something that’s true about our prompt. No research, only hand-written notes. 5 minutes is up.
We hit record and educatedly guess for ~10 min, building on each other’s ideas, realizations or statements. A true expert then critiques our speculations, sets the record straight, and drops learning links in the episode notes.
Topic ideas? I’m all ears. Drop them in the comments and I’ll tag you if your suggestion becomes a prompt on a future episode. Just one or two words. Ex. wicca, rainbows, anarchism, offshore oil.
EPISODE 1
New York State County Judge Joe Cassidy and I speculate on pheromones. Gauntlet thrown. Give us 10 minutes and we’ll try to explain.
After we’ve speculated to our limit, Dr. Reilly Coch from Ithaca’s Cayuga Medical Center reviews, critiques, and sets the record straight on pheromones.
Check out the show notes for Dr. Coch’s pheromone links. Essential reading if you want to know about this stuff.
